Science owes its origins to an act of faith in a creator :

We live in a Universe that clearly demonstrates order and complexity of a higher order that man can not even attempt to emulate , although does try ....
As we look into the largest of places ...The Universe and the smallest of places ....DNA , we clearly can see the work of a supreme intelligence , far beyond our own .

Nobel Prizewinner, Melvin Calvin remarks,
“As I try to discern the origin of that conviction [that the universe is orderly], I seem to find it in a basic notion discovered 2,000 or 3,000 years ago, and enunciated first in the Western world by the ancient Hebrews: namely that the... universe is governed by a single God and is not the product of the whims of many gods, each governing his own province according to his own laws. This monotheistic view seems to be the historical foundation for modern science."

“… the philosophy of experimental science … began its discoveries and made use of its method in the faith, not the knowledge, that it was dealing with a rational universe controlled by a creator who did not act upon whim nor interfere with the forces He had set in operation … It is surely one of the curious paradoxes of history that science, which professionally has little to with faith, owes it origins to an act of faith that the universe can be rationally interpreted, and that science today is sustained by that assumption.”
