The teaching concerning the days of creation as being literal days are confirmed here....

Clearly , the teaching concerning the days of creation as being literal days are confirmed here , where the literal days of creation are compared with the literal days of the week . Although a sabbath day of millions of years would be great a working week of days which where millions of years in length , would not be so great .
EXODUS 20:8-11 “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9You have six days each week for your ordinary work, 10but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. 11For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.http://nlt.scripturetext.com/exodus/20.htm
Luther said :
“When Moses writes that God created heaven and earth and whatever is in them in six days, then let this period continue to have been six days, and do not venture to devise any comment according to which six days were one day. But if you cannot understand how this could have been done in six days, then grant the Holy Spirit the honor of being more learned than you are. For you are to deal with Scripture in such a way that you bear in mind that God Himself says what is written. But since God is speaking, it is not fitting for you wantonly to turn His Word in the direction you wish to go.”
